The Hollywood Committee on Seditious Activities (HCSA) was started by Governor Jack F. Ralston in 1952, to uncover anti-American sentiment in Hollywood. It lasted until 1956, when Ralston disbanded it in favor of his personal authority and was subsequently shot to death by the LAPD shortly afterwards.
