Film rating system

The film rating system is used in Hollywood to rate a film's suitability for certain audiences based on its content. The system is currently enforced by law.

The film ratings are as follows:

Rating symbol Meaning
M Mandatory. Required viewing.
G General Audiences. All ages admitted.
PG Parental Guidance Suggested. Some material may not be suitable for children.
PG-13 Parents Strongly Cautioned. Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.
R Restricted. Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.
X Adults Only. No One 17 and Under Admitted.
Very Adults Only. Some material may not be suitable for adults.
HZ Hazardous. Some material may have an unwanted effect on mental faculties and/or the local spacetime continuum.
F Forbidden. All copies of this film must be disposed of.
