Film rating system

The film rating system is used in Hollywood to rate a film's suitability for certain audiences based on its content. The system is currently enforced by law.

The film ratings are as follows:

Rating symbol Meaning
M-Rated Mandatory. Required viewing.
G-Rated General Audiences. All ages admitted.
PG-Rated Parental Guidance Suggested. Some material may not be suitable for children.
PG-13-Rated Parents Strongly Cautioned. Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13.
R-Rated Restricted. Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian.
X-Rated Adults Only. No One 17 and Under Admitted.
X²-Rated Very Adults Only. Some material may not be suitable for adults.
HZ-Rated Hazardous. Some material may have an unwanted effect on mental faculties and/or the local spacetime continuum.
F-Rated Forbidden. All copies of this film must be disposed of.
