The film rating system is used in Hollywood to rate a film's suitability for certain audiences based on its content. The system is currently enforced by law.
The film ratings are as follows:
| Rating symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| M | Mandatory. Required viewing. |
| G | General Audiences. All ages admitted. |
| PG | Parental Guidance Suggested. Some material may not be suitable for children. |
| PG-13 | Parents Strongly Cautioned. Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. |
| R | Restricted. Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian. |
| X | Adults Only. No One 17 and Under Admitted. |
| X² | Very Adults Only. Some material may not be suitable for adults. |
