Thaddeus Finckenstein (March 11, 1903 – April 18, 1985) was the first Administrator of the Hollywood Space Administration, serving from 1951 to 1974. During his tenure, Finckenstein personally planned and oversaw ambitious programs that would push the boundaries of both space travel and the definition of criminal negligence. His personal philosophy of taking whatever people, animals, and household objects he could find, and launching them into space "to see what has the gumption to make it back", would become the defining principle of the HSA.

He was partially responsible for both causing and resolving the Invasion of Hollywood, and also for the establishment of the Lunopolis moonbase after declaring he would find a way to spend his retirement on the moon.
