The 1930s was a decade that began on January 1, 1930, and ended on December 31, 1939. It was often referred to as the "Dirty Thirties" due to the upswing of corruption and organized crime across the nation. Not by coincidence, this was also the decade in which the expansion Hollywood grew wildly beyond control.
